alright, lemme try to collect my thoughts here

first of all, this seems very haphazardly put together. i can hear multiple moments where the basses and the drums don't line up rhythmically. there is also a very apparent and annoying pause between the tom fill leading into the first drop and the actual drop itself. this is structurally all over the place as well, i'd suggest learning the typical intro-buildup-drop-breakdown-buildup-drop-outro structure of edm and writing music with that

about the basses, i don't like how they really only repeat one pattern. i can also hear them detune at about 1:58. are the basses synths you made yourself, or is it one long sample?

lastly, the piano melody is rather strange. it almost sounds atonal in a way; i don't know if this is what you were going for but if not then i would want to learn some tonal harmony as well, it'll help you figure out what notes you should use

nonetheless i'll give you three and a half stars for effort, but i know you have a lot to learn

Thanks for the review dude, I'm still learning to produce dubstep, I hope to improve my production techniques soon

i remember downloading this song back when you first uploaded it and listening to it continuously since then

i fucking love this! quite minimal but i think it helps with the atmosphere :)

this is fucking awesome, like a more futuristic but simultaneously more tribal alternate-universe prodigy

i'm loving the depth and complexity of the patterns

happy birthday!! and cool song, it's very sweet :)

MasterHand4444 responds:

Thanks much!!

you are genuinely one of the few living musicians i know who have a perfect sense of what note should come after the last

OVERSCORE responds:

Thank you so much, it is so encouraging to be receiving such high compliments from such talented musicians :D

music to dance to while you're on top of a car in a pepsi commercial

Streamline 👍

yay!! cool melodies and fills!

OVERSCORE responds:

yeah cool song! ty!

do i hear microtonality in the pad at the beginning? that's fucking awesome if so

the break programming is great too, but maybe the breaks themselves could be made thicker through compression or light saturation

xanxoepico responds:

yeah now that you mention it I had to tune the sub bass like 40 cents up to match the pitch of the pad lol, as for the breaks, funnily enough the amen does have some distortion on it, but no compression at all since I didn't understand how that worked back when I made this track, I've only recently begun using them heh

short but sweet :) my only real criticism is maybe some of the instruments sound too synthetic and robotic (besides that lead and pad of course). also maybe it could be more energetic? great song otherwise!

xanxoepico responds:

maaaaan a friend told me just that about the instruments, I still struggle a bit with humanization in melodies and especially percussions since having everything on the grid is just very comfortable

cool drum patterns, and the arps and melodies are quite nice! the piano at the end is very pretty as well

i'd suggest adding some modulation to some of these sounds (especially that reese bass) to make everything more active. also, i think the drums could be more prominent in the mix, probably through lightly sidechaining everything else to them. also, maybe try adding some ear candy and quick chops in the mix to fill up the spectrum and make this more interesting

just my thoughts

GlaceonDash responds:

Honestly not a bad idea
